Botswana Safaris, Wildlife and Wilderness

Botswana is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa. Bordered by Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, the country is known for its incredible national parks, rich wilderness and exciting safari adventures.

Almost 40% of the country’s land area is devoted to national parks and wilderness reserves which aim to protect some of Botswana’s most fascinating creatures.

The country boasts an incredibly diverse array of wildlife from The Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, black rhinos and buffalo – to intriguing bird life, and many other interesting species making this one of the most popular destinations for safaris.

Botswana is truly an animal lover’s paradise and no matter where in the country you choose to explore, you’ll be blown away by the rich wildlife here.

Okavango Delta and Safari Adventures

The magnificent Okavango Delta is undoubtedly the country’s natural gem. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the 7 Wonders of Africa and is one of the most fascinating landscapes on earth.

The largest inland delta in the world is home to vast concentrations of wildlife, rich lush grasslands and an abundance of plant life – a pristine haven for all types of animals. From humble accommodations to luxury lodges, there’s something for all types of travellers, and there are so many activities to enjoy such as hot air balloon rides, walking safaris and canoe river rides.

Head to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary to catch a glimpse of these magnificent animals and visit the Moremi Game Reserve (in the Okavango region) which is the oldest part of the national park. Containing some of Botswana’s diverse wildlife, this area is a must-visit when exploring the Okavango.

Botswana Elephants, Pans and Parks

Chobe National Park is one of the best places to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience where you can witness the famous ‘Big Five’ as well as see incredible elephant sightings, experience adventure safari at its finest and marvel at the incredible landscape of this stunning place.

Take a boat ride down the Chobe River marvelling at the magnificent scenes and spend an evening in an elephant lodge and wake up to these majestic creatures – what a breathtaking experience!

The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is where you can find some of the biggest salt pans in the world and unlike the luscious green grasslands of the Okovanogo, this national park offers a more tranquil safari experience. Keep your eyes peeled for meerkat families and if you’re lucky, you may be visiting at the right time to witness an immense zebra migration.
