Croatia: A Coastal Dream

Croatia (officially the Republic of Croatia) is located in the northwestern part of the Balkan Peninsula. Croatia is known for its gorgeous pebbled beaches, beautiful historic cities and the stunning coastline of the Dalmation coast.

Many people also associate Croatia with the popular series Game of Thrones, as the city of Dubrovnik and many other parts of the country were used as filming locations throughout the series.

The country is home to many islands, too. There are over 1000 islands in the Adriatic Sea, and although many of them are uninhabited, there are plenty that can be visited. Gorgeously clear, turquoise waters and golden sandy beaches are aplenty on the islands; the question is, which one to choose?

Dubrovnik: A Timeless Gem

Dubrovnik is a magical city located in the south of the country, and it sits right along the Adriatic Sea. It is known for its historic old town encircled by vast stone walls forming part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sights.

One of the most popular things to do in the city is to walk around the huge stone walls, taking in the impressive views of the sea from the top.

The city is a popular foodie destination, and especially in the old town, there are many vibrant bars and eateries with an array of fresh Croatian dishes to taste.

Island-Hopping Fun!

If you are looking to go island-hopping in Croatia, then you’ll be spoilt for choice with the destinations to visit. Hvar, Korcula, Vis and Brac are the most popular islands for tourists.

Hvar, in particular, is known as a summer resort. This port town has a big yachting scene, so it has plenty of upmarket bars and restaurants along the waterfront, as well as rocky beaches, gorgeously blue coves of water and great nightlife.

It’s not all beaches in Croatia; the country is home to some spectacular national parks such as Plitvice, which has a beautiful cascading waterfall and Mljet National Park.
