Malta is an archipelago located in the Mediterranean between Sicily and North Africa. The archipelago comprises three islands – Malta, Gozo and Comino.
The country is known for being a popular holiday destination due to its warm climate, spectacular landscapes, and rich and fascinating history. The capital city of Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage sight filled with fascinating architecture and historical treasures to be explored.
Wander around the beautiful Mediterranean city, feasting on the views of the natural harbour and the ancient structures. Be sure to take a trip to St. John’s Co-Cathedral – a beautiful piece of Baroque architecture, and stroll around the stunning courtyards of the Grand Master’s Palace, now home to the offices of the President of Malta.
Malta has a spectacular coastline. Rocky, rugged cliffs, hidden coves and crystal clear waters are popular for diving and snorkelling.
The Blue Lagoon on the island of Comino is world-famous for its incredibly clear water, which is perfect for swimming. Visit the Blue Lagoon on a kayak for a unique perspective of the island – a fantastic way to explore Comino.
The jaw-dropping landscape makes for an incredible sight – so much so that Malta is a popular film location spot – many well-known films and TV shows have been filmed here.
Malta is home to some of the oldest temples in the world, making it the oldest country to exist. Some of the prehistoric sights – UNESCO World Heritage Sights – are considered to be older than the Great Pyramids of Giza.
The Megalithic Temples of Malta are thought to have been built around 3600-2500 BC. At least twenty of these temples have been discovered across Malta, but only six are open to visitors, and it’s a sight that is definitely worth seeing.
