About North America

North America is the third-largest continent in the world, home to 23 countries, including one of the largest countries on Earth by population and area. It is also one of the most powerful and richest countries in terms of natural resources and capital – The United States of America. North America is known for its dramatic and diverse landscapes and its rich natural deposits of oil and gas. Four climates cover the continent – dry, temperate, continental, and polar. Alaska has an arctic environment, with temperatures dropping to as low as -30c. However, most of the United States of America has a continental temperate climate and the more southern North American countries such as Mexico and Guatemala have a tropical climate. North America has a rich and varied landscape, with mountains, deserts, rivers, lakes, and tropical beaches.

Nature at its Finest

The varied and diverse landscape means that North America is home to some of the most beautiful and fascinating creatures on the planet. Elk, alligators, bison, polar bears and moose are some animals found here. In addition, several animals can only be found on the continent of North America, including the bald eagle (the national symbol of the US), the American black bear and the groundhog. North America also has some of the most beautiful national parks in the world. For example, Yellowstone National Park in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, Jasper National Park in Canada, and Glacier Bay National Park and Reserve in Alaska have spectacular scenery and unique wildlife.
