Holiday in Barbados

The travel experts at Holiday Hamster can plan your trip to Barbados, taking care of all the details, so all you have to think about is what to pack.

Barbados is an Independent Commonwealth island country located in the eastern Caribbean. The country is known for its spectacular beaches, its rich culture and heritage and the warm, welcoming people that draw travellers back time and time again.

The island is known for its wealthy clientele and it’s stuffed full of luxury, high-end resorts featuring world-class dining and out-of-this-world hospitality.

The west of the island has fancy resorts and the powder-white sands synonymous with the Caribbean, whilst the east side is more rugged and the Atlantic Ocean winds make this a great water sports spot.

Barbados’ beaches are public beaches open to all – even the ones sitting next to the luxury resorts – and there are some incredible beaches for you to discover.

Pebbles beach is a fantastic place to take kids. Calm turquoise waters lap powder-white sands and the beach has a lifeguard and plenty of food stalls to choose from.

Bathsheba Beach on the east of the island is a hotspot for adventure seekers. The rugged, wild beach has a more natural feel than the pristine west coast, and the waves are perfect for surfers.

As well as some of the best beaches in the world, the island also has plenty more to offer. Explore the capital city of Bridgetown taking in the sights of colonial architecture and take advantage of the duty-free shopping available.

Wander the promenade of the port city spotting luxury yachts and local fishing boats before sampling some delicious Caribbean dishes. A Barbados cutter is a flying fish cutter sandwich filled with tasty condiments and is a popular local dish.

Head to Cuz’s Fish Stand in Bridgetown for arguably the best on the island. Barbados is the birthplace of rum and a tour of Mount Gay rum centre is one of the top attractions on the island. Take a tour of the distillery and learn about the process of rum production, don’t forget to purchase a bottle (or two!) to take home.
