Holiday in Jamaica

The travel experts at Holiday Hamster can plan your trip to Jamaica, taking care of all the details, so all you have to think about is what to pack.

Jamaica is a Caribbean island popular with holidaymakers thanks to its beautiful landscapes, its rich culture and its fantastic music scene. Jamaica is the birthplace of reggae music and one of the most famous cultural icons – Bob Marley.

The country is also home to some of the best coffee in the world and boasts breathtaking beaches, beautiful waterfalls and fabulous resorts. Travellers will love exploring Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage which is a mix of African and European influences.

Music and food are a big part of the cultural traditions here, and you’ll get to experience that first-hand at many of the attractions in Jamaica.

For some Caribbean sunshine head to Negril and Montego Bay for all-inclusive resorts, diving spots and all of the usual resort amenities.

Head to Treasure Beach in the south for a quieter, more authentic beach experience. Although not quite as spectacular as the beaches of Montego Bay you’ll escape the crowds here.

Hikers will love climbing the tallest peak in Jamaica and the home of the island’s unique coffee – Blue Mountain Peak. Hike up for sunrise with a special tour guide for an awe-inspiring view of the surrounding landscape – well worth the climb!

As the birthplace of reggae music, you’ll be sure to hear the relaxed sounds from plenty of beachside bars, but for a real taste of the sound head to a reggae festival. Reggae Sumfest is the island’s biggest music event and you can dance the night away with the island’s biggest reggae names, all with a rum in hand.

The capital Kingston is also a fantastic place to visit for the vibrant nightlife and you can watch the locals showing off their moves long into the night. Don’t forget to visit the Bob Marley Museum for a glimpse into this icon’s life.

Food is a big part of Jamaican culture and a visit isn’t complete without a taste of the country’s famous jerk seasoning. Jerk seasoning, which is either dry-rubbed onto meat or left to marinate, is a delicious mix of spices and herbs making for a mouth-watering meal. Wash it all down with a local rum or the country’s most famous beer- Red Stripe.
