Brazil is known for its stunning beaches and picturesque coastlines, and it’s no surprise that millions of travellers flock to this country every year to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. With endless stretches of pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters and vibrant beach culture, beach hopping across Brazil’s coastline is a must-do for any traveller visiting South America. In this blog, we’ll take you on a journey through some of Brazil’s most outstanding beaches, from the secluded and serene to the lively and vibrant.

Ilha Grande

Ilha Grande is a tropical paradise just a few hours away from Rio de Janeiro. This island offers some of the best beaches in Brazil and is perfect for those seeking solitude and relaxation. With 106 beaches, you’ll be spoilt for choice on Ilha Grande. Praia do Lopes Mendes, with its fluffy white sand, is popular among visitors. There are also several hidden beaches, accessible only by hiking trails, where you can escape the crowds and soak in the beauty of nature.

Praia do Forte

Praia do Forte is located in the Bahia region and is a favourite among tourists and locals. This beach offers shallow, crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The beach is also home to the TAMAR Project, a conservation initiative to protect the endangered sea turtles. Visitors can witness the turtles hatching and being released back into the ocean, an experience that is both inspiring and heartwarming.

Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara, located on the northern coast, is a hidden gem in Brazil’s beach scene. Accessible only by off-road vehicles, getting there is worth the effort. This beach boasts calm waters, sand dunes, and breathtaking sunsets. When the sun drops below the horizon, the area comes alive with music and dance, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a night out. You can also try sandboarding on the dunes, a thrilling activity that will surely get your adrenaline pumping.

The town also has a lively and vibrant vibe, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and shops to explore. The beach here is also a prime spot for dolphin watching – with some luck, you can catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures frolicking in the sea.
